La Lima

Tucked away with an unassuming, retro feel in Omorinishi, Ota Ward, La Lima is a neighborhood confectionery where visitors can pick up carefully constructed cakes to go.

A prominent draw is the Shine Muscat cream puff, baked in an elongated éclair shape and topped with juicy grapes. Tucked beneath the fruit are 2 distinct layers—an aromatic pistachio cream alongside smooth custard—bringing a rich yet refreshing balance to each bite. The purple sweet potato mont-blanc is similarly layered, pairing dense sweet potato puree piped over custard, whipped cream, and a candied chestnut with its inner skin intact.

Other selections broaden the appeal, including the caramel chocolat, which pairs a bittersweet caramel mousse with chocolate cream, dense cocoa sponge, and chopped nuts along the edges, as well as a light, melting fromage cake. Even the classic strawberry shortcake maintains a restrained sweetness throughout its sponge and cream, leaving a light finish.
